When we judge a work of art by its cover, we erase the essence of that work. It is all too easy to judge a book by its cover. We know what a novel should look like, and therefore we might judge a book by its cover as being a novel. However, there are many types of books that do not fit the norm.

The rule, therefore, is to judge a book by its contents. The idea of judging art from its cover is to give in to the pressure of the world and look only at what is on the outside without looking at what is inside. One can judge art by its cover but when you do you will find yourself missing out on the true essence of that art.
